Photocatalytic
filter consists of a metal case ‘1' made of zinc-coated
steel with flanges, and separated by an internal
partition ‘2'. The cartridge ‘3' is placed on the
partition. The catalyst ‘4' is on the surface of
the cartridge. The catalyst is illuminated by a UV
lamp ‘5', which is placed inside of the aerial filter.
Air coming into the inlet flange ‘6' passes through
the aerial element, where on the surface of the illuminated
catalyst the oxidation reactions of noxious compounds
take place. Air purified of those compounds then goes
through the outlet flange ‘7' into the ventilation
or conditioning system. To ensure the most efficient
air filtration it is recommended to place the photocatalytic
filter in the recirculation circuit. Standard diameter measures of the conjunctive flanges are as follows:
100 to 200 mm. These may vary depending on a particular wish of a client. Filters productivity and purification efficiency enhancement (up to
20%) may easily be achieved by using special double (triple) width filter constructions
containing two (three) parallel aerial elements with ultraviolet lamps. Another
way of increasing the level of purification efficiency (up to 30%) is a successive
operation of the filter constructions. Power supply of the photocatalytic filters is AC 220V. Each filter is
equipped with an electric block with PS and control systems included.
Control systems provide:
- Indication of electric power connection
- Indication of standard operation of UV illuminators
Long-term operation of the PCO may be ensured only on
condition the air coming into them is as much as possible
purified of dust (i.e. F3, F5 type filters). This will
provide the duty cycle of the cartridge equal to two
years and more. In case of a more contaminated air the
duty cycle may be reduced.
Maximum air resistance of the PCO does not go over 50 Pa. Air temperature
in the inlet location of the photocatalytic filters is to be confined within
the following range: -10 o …500 o C. Filters replacement is to be accomplished once every
two years. AIRLIFE photocatalytic filters are equipped
with PHILIPS ultraviolet lamps, which duty cycle
equals 5-7 years.
